Now that most of us have to stay close to home this summer, we’ve really had to take it upon ourselves to explore our own backyard! And honestly, we’re loving it! One of the most amazing things about Ottawa is how close it is to surrounding cities, towns & cottage country. Here’s a small list of our favourite places to visit this summer!
Westport, Ontario
Our favourite little town only an hour away from Ottawa. While the guys go golfing, hit up Scheurman’s Vineyard – their wood fired pizza & wine seriously never disappoints, and they always have live music on the weekends. If you’re in the mood for some outdoor activity, take a hike up Foley Mountain and catch the view of the beautiful village. There’s tons of local shopping & food downtown too!
Mont Tremblant, Quebec
Obviously this one is a given. We love to get friends together & rent a cottage in Tremblant! There’s tons of hiking & bike trails this time of year too!
Merrickville, Ontario
The sweetest village that’s less than an hour away! There’s tons of history in this little town.. take walk down main street and you’ll find tons of boutiques selling locally made goods, visit the glassblowing shop and see how their beautiful ornaments are made. If you’re hungry, the Goose & Gridon pub is the cutest spot for a bite, and if you’re feeling extra sweet his up the Stella Luna location on Main St West.
Wakefield, Quebec
Definitely one of Ottawa Locals favourite spots to venture to! We love the scenic drive through the Gatineau Park to get to this charming town. One of it’s most popular attractions is the bridge! On the hot days, take a tour with friends to float down the river to cool off on a hot day. We’d definitely recommend taking two cars.. one to drop of the car at the end of the river &
Chelsea, Quebec
One of the most popular spots to venture to thank to Nordik Spa Chelsea! We love to come up here to enjoy a drink & a bite at Chelsea Pub after a long relaxing day at the spa.
