We can help you determine what is worth upgrading & help you set attainable goals in preparation for selling your home. We’ve highlighted a few tips & strategies for getting your home ready for the market!

Create Defined Spaces for Each Room

When prospective buyers come through your home, you want to make is easy for them to visualize themselves living in your home — by grouping furniture to create a defined space in an open concept layout, adding colour to neutral spaces can be very powerful in defining the style & mood of your home.

Enhancing your space by changing the angles of where furniture is set or adding an area rug to help fill the space can be simple & inexpensive ways to have your home show ready.

Depersonalize & Neutralize Your Home

Similar to our first tip, you want the potential buyers to envision themselves living in the home, removing family photos and other personal items will help them visualize themselves living in your home.

Fix & Repair

Walk through each room in your home with pen & notepad & take a look at things that might need an update/repair

Questions to Ask Yourself:

  1. Light Bulbs that need to be changed?
  2. Is the paint trim chipped?
  3. Are there any minor repairs? (Leaky Faucets, broken handles, etc?)
  4. Chipped Tile?

So, you now have a to-do list for each room broken down, making it less overwhelming to tick each task off on your list! If it ever seems overwhelming, just work on one room at a time. And remember, it doesn’t all have to be at once. You can slowly make your way through your list and have a set goal to have so much done for when you’re ready to sell! If you ever need extra assistance, we have a personal handy man who can come in and help with anything you need.

Fresh Coat of Paint on the Walls

We know you’ve all heard this one before… but seriously, if you have the time or the means to add a fresh coat of paint, it will do wonders in how your home shows. Potential buyers will appreciate that you took the initiative to give your home a little face lift & will give it that fresh feeling when you walk through the door.

Deep Clean

Although this one may seem obvious, we must always address it. It’s all about first impressions here, and you want potential buyers to feel comfortable the moment they walk in, and there’s no better first impression than walking into a clean home. If cleaning isn’t your thing, no need to worry — we provide a cleaning service prior to listing a home or before new buyers take possession.

Utilize a Professional Home Stager

Bringing in a professional home stager is just one of the services that we offer our clients, and it’s seriously a game changer. They can see your home in ways you never could’ve imagined.. by guiding you in how to decorate, how to define spaces in each room, minimize clutter, help with a colour palette & so much more!

Organize Your Cabinets & Drawers
Try to limit items on your counters & in your cabinets and drawers. It’s a strange thought that people may open your cabinets & drawers, but they will want to see the type of storage the home has to offer. Having a cluttered pantry or drawers won’t help in convincing them there’s optimized storage space.

Purge & Declutter

This step is not only important for the prospective buyers coming through your home, but is important for your future home! You’ll have the opportunity to have a clean start by donating, selling or storing extra items you don’t necessarily need in your home, and it will give prospective buyers a chance to see themselves living in your home when it’s looking it’s best! If you’re not ready to let go of some of your items, renting a storage unit for the time being will alleviate the clutter in your home while you’re trying to sell.

Maximize Your Curb Appeal

This can be as simple as adding planters to your front door step, switching out the front door mat, adding a wreath above the door, adding fresh mulch to the gardens & mowing the lawn — after all, first impressions are what’s going to sell your home, and why not give a lasting impression even before they walk though the door!

All of these tips and tricks are easy fixes to get your home “show ready”, and can be easily done when you have attainable goals in place for your home.
