Blackberry has announced that they are investing $310-million, while the federal government has committed to investing $40-million to the Canadian Automated Vehicle Institute which is located in Kanata.

The funding is partially paying for an automated vehicle test track, which is set to open in March 2019. However, the most exciting news of this investment is that it is expected to create 800 Kanata jobs and retain 300 more in the company. To add to this excitement, another part of the funding is going towards a co-op program in the company, which will give more than 1000 students the opportunity to do a job placement in Kanata with various role options.

The CEO of Canadian Automated Vehicles Institute, Barry Kirk, said that his company will soon start hiring Kanata locals immediately. The jobs in Kanata will be widely varied; including, software/tech-related, accounting, law, marketing, and sales.

This is sure to have a major positive impact on Kanata real estate as such a high number of available jobs in one area will largely increase the Kanata population; with a high demand for housing, and therefore increase the housing costs. There is no better time to sell, then now!
